What does the “Please select an icon” error at checkout mean?
If you see an error requesting you to select an icon, it indicates the image captcha has not been completed. The captcha is located on the righthand side of checkout, below the terms and conditions checkbox. Simply select the icon indicated and you should no longer get this error.
Can I do my testing in a different state if there’s not a testing site near me?
Own Your Labs orders can be fulfilled at any testing locations in the USA except for Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. So, if there’s not a testing site near you, or you want to test while traveling, then testing at a different testing location is no problem so long as it meets the above criteria. Please note that this does not apply to Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, or Rhode Island residents as Own Your Labs cannot fulfill orders from these states even if the intent is to do testing in a different state.
Are there any additional costs to testing once I reach the testing location?
All of the testing costs, including the cost of tests ordered and the blood draw fee, is covered by the amount paid at checkout. As such, so long as you go to a brick-and-mortar testing location, no additional costs are owed. The only exception is if going through a third-party service or mobile phlebotomy, as these services may charge an additional fee.
How long will it take to receive my lab order form?
All orders are processed within one business day (Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Mountain Time). Orders placed after hours Monday through Thursday will be processed the following day. All orders placed after hours on Friday will be processed by Sunday evening to ensure that you have your lab order form ready for any Monday appointments.
I placed an order but I can’t find my lab order form!
If you haven’t received your lab order form via the email you supplied at checkout within one business day, first check your spam folder in your email. If it isn’t there, simply contact us and we will be happy to re-send it for you.
What does it mean to submit my anonymous data?
Please note that the Citizen Science Discount is currently unavailable due to logistical reasons – you can use the coupon code CSD for 10% off the subtotal without data opt in while it is unavailable.
By using the discount at checkout, you are agreeing to submit the demographic information collected at checkout (this does not include your name, birth date, and location), which includes information about your lifestyle and diet, as well as your lab results when they’re processed. This information will be added to the public data pool so it can benefit professional and citizen researchers alike. No further action is needed after filling out the demographic info form, applying the discount, and checking out (beyond getting the blood test, of course!).
Further information can be found on the Terms and Conditions page.
How long will it take to get my results?
The time it will take to receive your results largely depends on what you have ordered. Different tests have different turnaround times. The general average is a few days, but for some tests it may take up to two weeks. If you have not received your results, or a notification in your online portal that results are pending, please contact us and we will be happy to check the status of your report. Please note that reports will only appear in the portal once all testing has been completed.
I already paid for my order but I forgot to add a test! What do I do?
So long as you haven’t gotten the blood draw yet, simply place another order with the test you’d like to add and put in the additional notes of the order that you’d like to combine it with your prior order, and provide the order number of the original order. We’ll put both orders onto one form for you to use.
I filled out my name/birth date/address wrong on an order. What do I do?
Please do not use a form with incorrect information, as this can lead to a delay in results due to requirements with information that is an exact match to your portal account. Email us right away with what information needs to be corrected, and the updated information, and we will correct the form and send the corrected version. No sweat!
I don’t live in the US, can I still use Own Your Labs?
You can still use Own Your Labs if you can access a testing location within the US to get the blood draw. Most people do this if they were already intending to travel to the US beforehand. If you cannot access a testing location in the US, then Own Your Labs cannot fulfill your order at this time. We hope to offer services outside the US soon.
Please note that if you don’t have a US residence you may have difficulty creating a portal. In this case you can contact us and we can send you the results directly.
Is there an expiration date on orders?
Currently there is a 6 month grace period for all orders, after which the order expires. So long as the blood draw is done within this timeframe there is no need to contact us to let us know of a delay. If you need to delay your testing beyond this point, please contact us.
I am a resident of New York/New Jersey/Rhode Island/Maryland/Massachusetts, can I still use Own Your Labs?
Unfortunately, due to state laws and local restrictions regarding private testing, you cannot use Own Your Labs in these states.
Please note that the current policy applies to residents of NY/NJ/RI/MD/MA, and all orders made with an address in these areas will be refunded, even if the individual intends to test outside of the state.
I have a test I’d like to get, but don’t see it on the shop page. Can I request it?
If you contact us and let us know what test you’re looking for, we can check to see if we can provide it.
Can I use insurance on tests ordered from Own Your Labs?
To keep our prices as low as possible, Own Your Labs does not accept insurance. As such, charges from Own Your Labs cannot be submitted for reimbursement from any insurance, or other health care benefit program. This restriction applies to both public insurance programs (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, etc) and private insurance programs (Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health Care, etc).
