Apolipoprotein B (ApoB) is a protein produced in the liver and intestine. It is a structural component of ApoB containing lipoproteins including VLDL and LDL particles. Each particle has only one apoB protein, and thus apoB is a direct measure of the number of such particles in the bloodstream.
