Description
Preparation instructions: Fasting for 12 hours prior to blood draw recommended (per LabCorp)
Similar to the Basic Metabolic Panel (8), this is a blood test that checks several substances in the blood, including glucose (blood sugar), electrolytes, and markers of kidney function. However, the Comprehensive panel also looks at markers of liver function. It is also one of the most commonly ordered tests.
Results include:
- Alanine aminotransferase (ALT/SGPT)
- Albumin:globulin (A:G) ratio
- Albumin, serum
- Alkaline phosphatase, serum
- Aspartate aminotransferase (AST/SGOT)
- Bilirubin, total
- BUN
- BUN:creatinine ratio
- Calcium, serum
- Carbon dioxide, total
- Chloride, serum
- Creatinine, serum
- eGFR calculation
- Globulin, total
- Glucose, serum
- Potassium, serum
- Protein, total, serum
- Sodium, serum
Expected turnaround is within 1 day, although this can vary depending on other tests ordered for the same blood draw, and expected variation in LabCorp test handling.
